Tune, Sweep, and Optimize Components Defined in Sets of Data Files

Posted October 21st, 2008 by Colin Warwick · Add the First Comment · Video

A common design task is picking from a candidate list of components, each described by its own data file, such as an S-parameter file. The candidates can come from different members of one product family, or from different vendors, or a mixture. So in general, the characteristics of the candidates are multivariate and unsorted: the task is much harder than optimizing a monotonic, scalar quantity like a resistor value.

What to do?

A sequence of trial-and-error simulations is tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone, especially if you have the multiplicative effect of having several candidates for each of several instances.

Agilent ADS to the rescue! This seven-minute video shows how the DataFileList component (new in ADS 2008 Update 2) lets you quickly and reliably pick the optimum combination of components from your lists of candidates.
